  • To protect the safety, rights, or property of BookVitae, our users, or the public

Public profile content (names, biographical information, tributes) is visible to other users as part of the platform's core functionality.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

BookVitae uses cookies and local storage to provide and improve our services. The types of cookies we use include:

  • Essential — Required for the platform to function (authentication, session management, language preferences). These cannot be disabled.
  • Preference — Store your settings such as theme choices and display preferences.
  • Analytics — Help us understand how visitors use the platform so we can improve it.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Memorial profiles may be retained beyond account deletion as part of the platform's core purpose of preserving memories.

You may request deletion of your personal data at any time. We will process deletion requests within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

While BookVitae takes reasonable precautions to safeguard data, including regular backups, we cannot guarantee the permanent availability or integrity of any data stored on the platform.

BookVitae shall not be liable for any loss, corruption, or destruction of data resulting from system failures, cyberattacks, natural disasters, third-party service failures, or any cause beyond our reasonable control. Users are encouraged to use the data export feature to maintain personal copies of important content.
